Special Guest: Norm Sacuta, Director of Communications with PRTC
Join us as we chat with Norm Sacuta, Director of Communications for the Petroleum Technology Research Centre (PTRC). PTRC has become a world leader in the deep geological storage of CO2 captured from large set point sources. Between 2000 and 2015 the company managed an $80 million research project examining the safety and validating the efficacy of CO2 being used for enhanced oil recovery at the Weyburn and Midale oil fields.
Since 2015 it has been managing the injection, measurement, monitoring and verification of CO2 stored from the carbon capture facility at SaskPower’s Boundary Dam coal-fired power station. That work has informed many other project worldwide and within Canada on how to effectively store CO2 in the deep subsurface (3.4 km down). This discussion will help people come to understand the important work being done.
