Description
K+S Potash Canada is helping shape the next chapter of growth in Saskatchewan’s mining sector through its long-term expansion plans at the Bethune mine, a project that will further strengthen the province’s role as a global leader in potash production and supply.
Join the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce and the Saskatchewan Mining Association during Saskatchewan Mining Week 2026 for a discussion on the future of potash production, sector growth, and Saskatchewan’s evolving role in supplying essential resources to the world. This year’s Mining Week theme, “Sixty Years Strong: A Fertile Past, Present and Bold Future,” reflects both the legacy and momentum of one of Saskatchewan’s most important industries.
Saskatchewan’s mining sector generated more than $12.8 billion in mineral sales in 2025, including $9.3 billion in potash sales alone, underscoring the scale and continued growth of the industry. As global demand for fertilizer and food security continues to rise, investments like the Bethune Ramp-Up Program are positioning Saskatchewan for long-term economic growth and international leadership.
Angie Symes, Senior Manager of Mining at K+S Potash Canada, will provide an inside look at the company’s multi-decade, multi-billion dollar Ramp-Up Program designed to nearly double production at Bethune. Drawing on more than 20 years of experience across underground mining operations, maintenance, and operations readiness, Angie will share insights into the scale of the project, the operational considerations behind it, and what it means for the future of mining in Saskatchewan.
Connect with industry leaders, hear directly from those driving major investment in the sector, and take part in the Mining Week conversation on Saskatchewan’s mining future.
