On March 15, join us for Energy Efficiency & Management: Conservation Strategies for Saskatchewan Businesses, a luncheon offered as part of the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce’s Energy Series.
ESG is becoming an increasingly relevant topic throughout our province and across the globe. Whether your business is striving to be sustainability leaders or you are simply concerned about the rising costs of utilities, carbon taxes, etc., using energy more responsibly should be at the forefront of these conversations.
During this session, we will hear from energy and environmental managers describing their current energy conservation and sustainability strategies, new innovations in the space, and the future goals they have within their portfolio of buildings. Attendees will leave with practical knowledge on why ESG reporting is important, and tips on energy conversation strategies that can enable all businesses to be more competitive & sustainable in the future.
ABOUT THE PANELISTS
Megan Bunney is the Manager of Market Sustainability in SaskEnergy’s Customer Solutions group. Her team focuses on energy efficient solutions, advancing innovative technologies that reduce emissions, the role of gases in low carbon and net zero environments, and energy savings and emission reduction reporting. This work complements and support SaskEnergy's energy efficiency rebate programs that are run by the Customer Solutions group. With a passion for a sustainable energy future that started 20 years earlier while researching and testing fuel cells, and a background in engineering, business development and customer service, Megan enjoys working with industry and municipalities to help customers achieve emissions reductions.
Curtis Dorosh is the Director of Engineering and Sustainability at the Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement, Government of Saskatchewan. His love for our planet has been inspired by an upbringing where his hands were often found in the earth. Whether composting, gardening, or preparing his own food with his family, Curtis was constantly connecting himself to the natural environment. It’s an upbringing that has formed and shaped him into someone who gets involved and isn’t deterred by a big challenge. Wanting to fill one summer with adventure, he and his girlfriend rode a tandem bicycle across our nation. He has also sailed in a tall ship from London, England through the Strait of Gibraltar to Malta. Curtis has a busy career with SaskBuilds where he works in Building Services on Engineering and Sustainability programs – moving government in the greener direction through its buildings and operations. Curtis previously spent two years with Light House Sustainable Building Centre in Vancouver working with owners and operators to reduce the environmental footprint from their new buildings and building operations including energy studies, energy audits, LEED project management and 'funky engineering'. Curtis has worked with Summerhill Group running energy conservation residential and commercial programs for utility clients. He has also found the energy to take his LEED AP and LEED NC instructor training and CEM course, while managing his time in a way that allows him to feed an addiction to kiteboarding and sailing. He is full of energy and makes sure nobody gets bored at a board meeting. When asked to describe the philosophy he lives his life by, he admits Mavis Leyrer described it precisely when she said, “Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ‘WOO HOO – What a Ride!’”
